[The scene shows forest-covered valleys on one side, a picturesque ancient Japanese village on the other, and clear skies all around. A gentle breeze rustles the nearby plum trees; pink petals scatter lazily in the air. A blank scroll is spread out on a patch of grass, and a glowing green ‘bug’ jumps up and down around the paper ( Read more... )

...The Duck is not on your end?

No, I don't know where the duck is from. Unless you mean Scrooge, but I don't keep strict tabs on him either. He's a very busy duck!

[Points to DDD.] This duck needs to go away.

Nobody knows from where the duck came: another mystery to add to this place.

You can't make it leave. It chooses when to stay and go, like a bad gil.

People have searched for years on end and no answers have been uncovered!

Then I guess the best would be to wait it out, huh.

The name's Issun!

That's what the rest of us do!

I'm Kefka. You're a painter, are you, Issun?

Then, you've been here long?

Uh-huh. I'm trying to capture the beauty of the world!

About six months of standard American Earth time!

I like what you've got so far, but I think it could stand to be a bit more jagged. All curves and no points makes a page a dull play, don't you think?

Ame-ri-can? What's that?

You got a point there. [PUN UNFORTUNATELY INTENDED.] I guess you can say I was inspired by someone. [He hangs out in the 'Valley of Sakuya's Chest'.]

It's the country where a great deal of the people here are from. America. It's a very strange place, and I don't understand it very well, but you get used to it after a while. There's a lot of people from 'Japan' too, which is also called 'Nippon'?

[+5 POINTS FOR PU--wait a minute, this is a boob painting. LE GASP] ...You could just get permission to paint her breasts and do an actual good painting of the mountains. How about that?

For some reason Okami doesn't translate Nippon to Japan, but it means the same. createswithink June 30 2011, 21:08:21 UTC
Yep! This land is known as Nippon, and it's no wonder why many people live there because it's so charming! Where are you from?

[In a cleverly hidden way: why yes, yes it is.] ...I tried that, but she just laughed! I had to settle with simply being inspired by her beauty.

Okami does that xD sandinmyboots July 11 2011, 20:35:48 UTC
I'm from Woolsey, where not many people live because the wildlife is homicidal.

[He knew it.] It's not to my tastes. Can you draw some landscape-y landscapes next time?

That's why it's called the wild, Mister.

[He thinks for a moment, extracting a memory of an image from a year or so ago, and puts his brush to the paper. It isn't so much as drawing because the stranger asked him to, but rather Issun wants to try painting from memory and this is the perfect opportunity to do so.]

I'm told on your Earths, animals don't attack people on sight. Nor can they shoot lightning from their mouths or cause earthquakes.

And that is a good landscape. Your mountains are very barren...and I like the river. And the fish in it!

[What's a lilypad? Why would you need that when you can travel by falling in the river and off a waterfall?]

Yeah, those mountains are barren last time I saw them...but I drew this one with a certain inking style. Any mountains would look like rocks.
