Be there for her, man. Be ready to bail her out if she goes too far, and be ready with advice any time she thinks to ask.

And if she really needs you to come down on her, do it. Like you said, you shouldn't let her get killed in the name of finding her own path or whatever.

Deal with things as they come up, what's so complicated about it? If she's hungry, get her food, if she's in danger, save her.

Otherwise, she can speak for herself on what she needs.
