I thought I'd add to the question theme.

Do you have a favorite word? If so, what is it? And do you have a least favorite word? If so, what is it?

Don't know about my favorite, but my least favorite would have to be "impossible".

There have to be limits. Otherwise, people can't go beyond them. At least, that's what I think.

Aye, I'll grant you that there're limits, but it's the breaking them that's the fun part. I mean, where would I be if I'd listened to my instructor when he told me that what I wanted to do was impossible? Not where I am today, that's for sure.

And where are you today, if you don't mind me asking?

Serving as Chief of Engineering aboard the finest ship in Starfleet, that's where.

That certainly sounds very impressive. I've never been one for engineering, alas. Would I be correct in assuming that Starfleet is, in fact, a fleet that operates in space?

Aye, that's exactly what it is.

That's remarkable, truly. I don't think we have anything quite like that here. I mean, there's a space program, but it's not quite the same

When are you from, if I might ask? I'm in the twenty-third century, myself. Bit farther ahead than most of the community, I've found.

Ah, it's been 1992 for a few days now. You're definitely further along than I am.

This might seem a silly question, but what's it like?

A lot like 1991, so far. It's been a bit cold this winter, but otherwise, it's quite nice. Did you mean something more specific?

Aye, a bit. I'm afraid my knowledge of the twentieth century is a bit sketchy at best.

That's all right. My knowledge of the twenty-third is sketchier.

Well, the Soviet Union collapsed a few days ago. That's certainly big news.

The Soviet Union. That's Russia?

And it occurs to me that I ought to introduce myself. Montgomery Scott.

Yes, and a few other states. It's still something of a big political mess right now.

A pleasure to meet you. Call me Fell, if you please.
