I'm starting to realise how lucky I am to have such a loving family despite our living conditions. I mean, we all look out for each other and keep each other going. Wouldn't trade my mother for anything in the world. We all pull our weight and in the end, we survive. Maybe we're not all here either, but we get by. We have to. If we didn't we'd all ( Read more... )

Try being the eldest of three. I take it he can be a bit of a brat sometimes then. Or perhaps he acts like he knows everything.

Dad's a very important scientist, so he's always worked a lot, and I never got to see him... And he's kind of bad at being fatherly. But I know he cares a lot about me, he saved my life when Mom there was something dangerous running around.

A scientist, huh... I guess with a job like that he must get really engrossed in his work, especially being as important as he is. Still, even if he might be a bad father, he sounds like a good hero to save you like that.

...He works with viruses to create zombies and things that kill a lot of people. He's really not a hero to anyone but me.

Zombies...? Sounds just as bad as the Capitol's mutts. I'm sorry you didn't get landed with someone you could rely on then. It sometimes makes me think, I might not have a father anymore, but at least they weren't bad while they were alive.

Well, I have a mother and two brothers too. That everyone sort of forgets to ask about.

Then let me ask about them. Tell me about your mother and those brothers of yours. Surely they can't be as bad as the other ogre in your house, though it bothers me a bit that they never seem to do anything about it.

They boys are young still. Innocent and just... boys. Playing all the time. Mom is very sweet and gentle.

Then... how did someone like her end up with someone like that? I mean, can't she get help for him? I'm glad they're not all cruel though. Means I'm less likely to drag you out of there for now.

I have two sons, both of them brilliant alchemists. I don't know very much about them, though.

Alchemists? Hmm, you live away from them or something like that? Maybe you should contact them sometime.

Alchemy is a respected science where I come from. Those who practice it are called alchemists.

I... left home many years ago to pursue a foolish dream... I haven't seen them in ten years.

Well, I did see my eldest son when I returned home, but our meeting was... brief. I'm awaiting my youngest son to come meet me in the city of Lior.

Ah, another science. I'm hoping they don't abuse it like others I've heard about.

Ten years is a long time. I take it your eldest son wasn't too thrilled to meet you after leaving like that. Still, at least you're alive. And while you're alive you can still work to fix things.

My father killed my sisters, my mother sold me out to him, then Father killed Mother and had two kids by other women (who went mad and got killed, respectively) and then tried to kill both of them, too.
