[There's exactly thirty seconds of background noise before the Joker speaks: there's some kind of machine buzzing lightly, like a sewing machine, boards creaking rhythmically as he rocks his chair back and forth, and maybe that's a record player at the end of a record?

He sighs; when he speaks, he sounds almost... despondent.] Good evening, duckies. You know, I've, uh. Been kind of... lethargic lately. Haven't been feeling very good about things, you see, just a little melancholy and not too fond of how we're put together. So, I've been doing what any self-respecting insomniac would do in my situation and, that is, I've been looking through, mm, Youtube.

[He giggles and the creaking boards stop.] Making things, too, but all in due time. [Distantly, like he's in another mindset all of a sudden,] I wonder, uh, what Sammy's doing. I'm not a very good father figure. Letting her stay up at all hours doing God knows what... [He clears his throat and comes back to "reality" as best he can.] Now, see, uh, ducklings. I've got a favor to ask you, but I'm not going to, it's not going to be now that I ask it. I'll do that later. Tonight, uh, I just want to... shoot the shit. Talk. See how you are. How's your mother? Haha. Trick question.

[He pauses for another ten seconds.] Let me start with an, uh, that is, let's go with an icebreaker for now. Tell me, what kind of art do you like? Not, uh, painting, not that kind of art. No Louvres here. I mean things like... literature. Music. Poetry. What's on your bookshelves, ducks? Your, uh, what do kids have these days? IPods? Yeah. Tell me what's on that. Or your Walkman, I suppose. Or a record player.

[A little eagerly, now,] Here, I'll start. Here's what I've been listening to. It's a real earworm, gets stuck every time and no amount of prying can get it out. Sorry about the quality. [The boards creak, and the record player stops skipping; after a few seconds, "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" by the Animals starts playing.

The audio feed only cuts out once the song is done.]
