[Video Post] ((Dream virus; day 1))

Jun 25, 2009 21:20

((OOC WARNING: MAJOR SPOILER for Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney case four.))

[The video is black and quiet. Just as the viewer may begin to wonder whether the feed is broken, a voice breaks through.]

Will we be able to leave soon? [It’s tentatively small, a child’s voice, respectful on the surface and scared underneath.]

[The voice that answers is considerably older, reassuringly calm and no less frightened.] Soon, Miles. It’s just a temporary outage.

You said the same thing hours ago. [the boy answers, a pout in his voice]

Firstly, it wasn’t hours ago, and secondly, it’s still true.

[It’s quiet for a while, with only breathing audible; eventually the sound becomes louder. The boy’s higher pitched breathing is particularly loud and quick. He speaks again, his voice quiet and laced with obvious fear.] Fath-

Can’t you keep the kid quiet, Edgeworth?!

[Miles falls silent, and the indistinct muttering of the man, Edgeworth, can be heard, though the words aren’t intelligible. There’s another long pause, filled with heavy breathing that’s getting more labored and louder by the moment.]

[Finally, the third voice again, loud and carrying a note of panic.] Why aren’t they coming?!

[Edgeworth’s voice is still even, an attempt at soothing.] They can’t be much longer. Once the power is restored they’ll-

[The man cuts him off angrily, the note of panic rising.] It’s been hours.

[Steady and calm, as if speaking to a spooked animal:] And in those hours I’m sure they’ve been working diligently on the power grids. It can’t be much-

We don’t have much longer, damn you! [The already breathy voice hitches with a sudden, wheezing gasp. There’s a rustle of fabric and jangling of metal as someone gets to their feet, followed by a rapid banging that sounds like a jackhammer echoing wildly in a small space.]

[The man, yelling desperately.] H-help! I can't breathe!

[More rustling. Edgeworth, voice commanding but quick with fear.] Quiet! I said quiet! You're not making this any easier!

Stop breathing my air! I'll... I'll stop you!

[A scared whimper can be heard, though it’s quickly buried under the sounds of a violent struggle, two men grunting and shuffling around.]

Stop breathing my aaaaair!

[Terrifying crescendo, louder than it could possibly be, and over it all, the boy’s voice suddenly rings out, pitched high with terror and carrying an immature note of the commanding tone he’d later be known for. The voice echoes, strangely distant from the scene, as if not coming from the boy himself but from outside the small tableau.]

(Get away...!)

(Get away from my father!)

[There’s a scuffle, a thud, as of something heavy hitting a thick carpet, and then an explosion which seems to transcend sound.]

[Then the cacophony is drowned out by a thunderous scream, deep and filled with rage and pain. It stretches on, and when it fades the echo still rings in the long silence that follows in its wake.]

[Just as a viewer might wonder again if the feed is over, there’s a whooshing sound, doors sliding open to let in a blinding rectangle of light. A figure is silhouetted for only a moment, large and black and imposing, before the video abruptly ends.]

((Moar OOC: Forward dating to about 2 or 3 am. Consider all replies to be happening sometime around 8 am or later, after Edgeworth's made it to the office and bothered to check his personal mail. The last bit of dialogue and the event itself is taken directly from canon.

Also, I just took a Valium so if my replies start getting wonky, you guys know why. 8D Valium + sleep deprivation = sleepytiems. Will try to tag on breaks tomorrow, will continue after work!))
