A question for all you do-gooders.

Since I gather there are plenty of heroes, superheroes, and generally nice and good people around here. Answer me this:

Would killing all criminals make the world a better place?

...put some thought into it.

No. It's unethical and would make the legal system ineffective because it would be lowered to the same level as those criminals. We would be no better than they are if we resorted to the same methods, regardless of whether or not we thought it "just."

That is what I think as well. At least people here aren't as quick to accept things like these as they seem to be in my own world.

I imagine if something like that is happening on your world, then the element of fear has been introduced into the equation. It generally acts as a strong persuading factor on public opinion.

It has been, that is true. But there are people here who honestly seem to think that killing criminals solves something, and that is why I posted this question.

That, unfortunately, is a part of the human condition. Society generally curbs people actually acting on those sentiments, but I suppose that wasn't sufficient in your world.

Apparently not.

Nice to meet you Mr. Wayne. My name is Mello.

And maybe you can guess the reason I use an alias.

The pleasure's mine.

You're involved with the situation, I presume? Not the guilty party, you're not looking for people to support the killer's actions... are you on the investigative side?

That is correct.

...not to hide anything from you Mr. Wayne, you know that your world is fictional in some places, right?

I'm aware. And, if you'd be so kind as to keep any alternate identities that such may make you aware of to yourself, I'd appreciate it. Perhaps it would be easier to simply condense our conversation to one thread, in fact. Though, for obvious reasons, appearances needed to be kept.

Interesting. Are you inquiring on the community about the situation out of curiosity, then, or are you running out of options?

Of course.

I'm not out of options by a long shot. I'm really just curious as to the mentality of this place. ...and given this community's knack for drama, I'm sure you will all know if I ever do run out.

The mentality of this place is pretty sufficiently described in it's name, I'm sorry to say. They have a penchant for starting and being involved in plenty of theatrics.

...well. That is probably true for most any internet forum I ever encountered. But at least some people are able to focus on an issue here, and I don't think that drama is impossible to avoid.

I would have to painfully disagree that it's possible to avoid, but I may be biased due to exigent circumstances. In any case, posts like these are a good way to garner attention, which will be helpful in assessing the mentality of the general populace, but may be hindering later in your investigation. I would advise that you exercise caution.

I... see.
I will be careful, don't worry. What I'd been meaning to ask you though. Is there anybody here I should be careful about? Anyone that isn't obvious?
