[There's a shuffling noise, and the tinkle of crystals, as a microphone is lifted and turned on. Harsh breathing, like someone very much out of breath but still planning on finishing the marathon, can be heard. Beeping computers and a robot humming in the background. If you have very good hearing, you could make out the howl of the wind and the rushing of snow and the hum of energy all around. Kal-El has very good hearing. Kal-El can hear everything, from the seals outside splashing to the low buzzing noise from the computer. But he takes a breath, a very weary breath, and speaks regardless.]

I have a question. How do you get a hangover if you weren't drunk in the first place? I'm just curious, that's all. You don't have to answer. It's puzzling me. In the meantime, does anyone have a cure for this they'd be willing to similarly affected people today? I'm certain this won't last forever, and you'll all feel better in the morning.

[Because as much as the empty silence of the Fortress burns his ears and hurts his eyes with the bright light of early morning, it was worse when he woke up in Metropolis this morning. He could hear everything. Every siren, every call for help, every person's footsteps on the pavement, everything burning into a distinct hum that he could neither ignore nor stop. With that in mind, he's glad to have the silence, the stillness of his Fortress, that wasn't a silence, after all.]
