Children have a remarkable ability to cope and heal. Let him express his feelings and try to understand - I am sure that he will be able to work through his pain, given time.

It is hard to watch people one cares about grieve. Yet it is better to let them show their feelings rather than hide it inside, and attempt to ignore it.

Many of my children have undergone similar situations - if you feel that he would adjust quicker with someone his own age to talk about it, he is free to speak to them.
