[Tutti Zitti (Quiet Everyone)
A solemn, formal occasion- at least for the moment. James as B.F. Pinkerton, clad in the formal uniform of a US Naval lieutenant, and next to him his bride, Cio-Cio San, or Butterfly- Shuraiya, dressed to the nines in silks and brocades as a Japanese geisha, his face painted and powdered. Pinkerton looks quietly smug, but Butterfly is positively glowing with happiness.
The Grand Commissioner and the Registrar of Marriages conduct a brief ceremony- just official, saying words to witnesses (or, well, singing them in Italian) and presenting official papers to be signed. Once the papers are signed, Pinkerton clutches Butterfly to him in a kiss- a faint gasp goes through the crowd. That, after all, is him being bold and Western, not something expected at this setting, and certainly not at this time- the year is 1904.
Butterfly blushes when he brings her back up, hiding her smile behind her hand, but Pinkerton just grins.
Madama Butterfly
The wedding celebration begins proper, and the crowd- some Butterfly's friends and relatives, some men in Pinkerton's regiment, or other, American friends of his- congratulate them. There is a general, happy noise and hubbub]
