Greetings from planet NPS!
Its only the end of day 2 and I feel like I've lived a week's worth of fun and crazy and poetry.Last night I went out with the intention of just saying hi to Gus and Karen G and a few other people before going to bed, but wound up having drinks and hanging around and somehow lost the jewelry from my monroe-since I have no replacement I have decided to just let it close. To be honest I was considering removing it anyway. There is a diner here called Mickey's-its totally old timey and wonderful and the cook loves me cause I am a woman that knows what she wants when he asks. Now we break for a message from Indiana's Erin Livingston:

Now back to our regularly scheduled blog:
I am not quite ready for bed so I am hanging out in the little banquet room set aside so the poets aren't all in the lobby and such. The hotel is nice and thus far is does not seem that they totally hate us.
I did my Ira Glass poem at the rookie open mic and have been catching some love for that. Makes me almost wish it had stayed on my sideboard. I sorta forget sometimes how much I like that poem.
Our first bout tonight was a little beguiling...performances were on point..I felt like the weak link having stuttered a line and not having as much energy as I would've liked but I honestly gave the best performance I was capable of.I know everyone thinks their team should win but I do feel like we should've placed at least a little higher than the 4. I felt like so much of the higher performing poetry was cheap, I have been spoiled to our very smart audiences at Writers' Block. I caught the end of the bout before ours and despite the big names the only poem that really blew me away was Jeanann Verlee. She's a wrecking ball.
I am glad we have a day off tomorrow because I am losing my voice. It was already fading but then I blew it out entirely screaming for Scott's poem (He did Lynchins). I think we are going to the Mall of America. Fun fun! I dont wanna come home!
