(no subject)

Despite some hiccups (like using the word "bitch" instead of "witch) the invited dress rehearsal went down without any major problems and we got our second full run of the show in.  Considering that was our first time in the space, it's impressive.  I enjoy performing in parks, and I have to say, even though we don't have a backdrop, the natural woods behind us looks AMAZING with the lights up, like you're being shifted to Lothlorien or some fairy world of blues and purples.  So at the very least I like the look of the show.  There were though of course some outdoors factors we didn't take into account:

1. Mosquitos.  Lots of mosquitos.  And when  you have to stay perfectly still for an entire scene you have no choice but to literally watch as the damn things make a meal out of your stationary arms.
2. Heat.  Even though we rehearsed outdoors for some reason i thought this night might be different and halfway through my fight scene realized I didn't feel so hot.  In fact, I was going to throw up at any moment.  Drink water, people.
3. Pinecones...you CAN trip on them.

Of course, this is in Newmarket and even though the show was finished by 10:30 I didn't get home until 12:30 or so.  I got home, sighed in relief, poured myself a glass of wine, and put my feet up on the coffee table to chillax.

And then I saw the golf ball sized swelling on the side of my ankle and promptly screamed.

So it seems that something OTHER than a mosquito bit me last night and I just haven't noticed until now.  I look for Benedryll.  I have none.  So i drink more wine.  Shockingly, that doesn't work and I wake up with the golf ball tumour staring me in the face.

So I go to the drug store before work, grab some benedryll and realize that they're out of non-drowsy.  Whatever, I'll only take one, it can't be that bad, right?

Two hours later my voice is starting to slur and the effort of keeping my eyes open is getting more and more difficult.  Needless to say, it was a stupid decision.  And though the tumour is smaller, it's still there.  Balls.  To be continued.
