My phone and rehearsal space were found yesterday! the phone ended up being under a couch pillow of the guy's house and the rehearsal space was in a random park around where I had been wandering. I just didn't get the message 'cause you know...no phone.
This morning I peeled myself from my bed and in my attempt to think more positively about this heatwave likened myself to some mighty badass warrior who doesn't need AC, dammit!
I am also discovering that learning stage combat and sword must be like learning tai chi. Yesterday they asked if we could go full speed and full force at each other during our fight sequence. I was nervous and unsure despite Kelsey assuring me that I was actually doing quite well for someone who had no experience, but I tried sucking it up and just going for it. And weirdly, all that time spent doing the fight in slow motion meant my body didn't even hesitate going through the moves. The fight director thought it looked great and much more fluid than when I had been doing it before. Still, it's kind of crazy how bodies and muscles work. This means, though, that I can finally start concentrating on character during the fight as opposed to just the moves.
Tonight I have 2 more fringe shows to go to. I'm becoming a bit of a regular at the Fringe tent which is a bit scary, although I know Trennum, the bartender/former Guelphite. I feel like i'm in my own sitcom or something with the familiarity I have with that bar, actually...
I am also reading "Under Heaven" by Guy Gavriel Kay. I love his writing and his stories and am absolutely adoring this one. It's a fantasy in another world, but its a world based off of Tang Dynasty of our world. His ability to weave our own historical culture into his novels is astounding. More on it later. For now, back to work!
