We took the shinkansen after waking up and getting ready at a pretty leisurely pace - all the way to Kyoto, which only took like 2.5 hours. Hooray for technology! Since we started out so late and had a bit of luggage on us, we walked around Kyoto station and had some lunch before heading to Ohara, which took another hour by bus. Then we waited to get picked up from the station by the minshuku so by the time we got there, it was about 5pm. I booked this place mostly for the onsen experience, so we all took a dip before dinner and really enjoyed the place. It was clean and hardly any people were there, plus the rain meant that it was nice and cool outside. Great weather for onsen. Dinner was miso nabe which was decent - not the best onsen meal I’ve had but not bad. To be honest the fact that they cover half board at the price of only 25k yen is pretty darn good, considering the rest of the facilities too. I’m quite pleased with my booking!
