The mood has hit me to start writing for a horror campaign that's unlikely to ever see daylight once more. Still, at least I'm in the mood for something, yeah? As inspiration I'm going through various horror and suspense films just to see if it sparks any useful ideas. And I have to tell you... there's a lot of horrible shit out there. Not as in 'gruesome' or 'terrifying'... that I can handle, and I appreciate good horror especially of the paranormal variety. No, what I mean is godawful drek that I can't even get through. I know some of these are people's individual projects with small budgets, and I hate to crap on someone's writing or ideas. But you can forgive low budgets, bad effects, and inexperience. What you can't forgive are wooden actors, plots that a five year old could see the flaws in, and dialogue that sounds like it came out of a parody of a junior high play.

It's a pity that so many one-star movies on Hulu and Netflix truly, desperately deserve that single star. Especially given that I'll give two stars to something I don't like so long as I can at least get through it.
