General Update

I hadn't posted in a while so I figured that I would let everyone know how things are going over here. Currently I am still in vacation mode in Montepulciano, sleeping late every day, going out and getting wasted every night, and eating lots of good food in between.

Learning Italian is incredibly difficult, and finding a job without it is next to impossible. This month I hope to get some work around here a couple days a week, probably painting with a guy I know here in Montepulciano. It is not a great job but it is some income and I can say that I spent the summer painting in Tuscany, which doesn't sound so bad. In september I can start harvesting grapes for Montepulciano's famous wine Vino Nobile, which a lot of people here do. Once again it is not great pay but it seems like a pretty cool thing to do and will give me the funds to get me through until the end of September.

I am currently trying to find out how I can study over here and get paid for doing so. In Italy, the government will pay for you to attend the university, pay for your room, food, and sometimes even give you some spending cash as long as you are enrolled and passing the exams at the university. A friend who studies in Florence says that this even applies to international students studying in Italian universities. The difficulty for me will be how to study in a language I don't read or speak, but perhaps there are some classes in english literature and the like which are taught in english. This is my best hope for staying here long term.

Whether or not the school goes through, I will be returning home at the end of september. That is the latest return date that they would give me on my airline ticket, so rather than let it go to waste, I payed the fee to have it changed. I should be able to attend Shea and Holly's wedding this way (assuming they are still planning to get hitched) and I should get to see everyone. If I have something lined up in the way of studying I will get my student visa here and fly back to Italy and start school, or if that doesn't work out I guess I will be living back in America.

Well thats all for now folks.
