Movie #48: Lost Boys

The Lost Boys (1987). Yes, I'm an oddball for having never seen it. I expected it to be crappy teenage schlock, but I was pleasantly surprised at how awesome it was. This film is an object lesson in "show, don't tell." Although, I admit that they do "tell" quite a bit as well. I still fret over how "The Lost Boys" was a sleeper hit with canonically-pure vampires (sorta) and "Twilight" was huger than huge and featured "vampires" with no weaknesses.

I'd recommend you see "Near Dark." It's as fundamental to our modern understanding of vampires as both "The Lost Boys" and "Interview with the Vampire."

Lost Boys is an EXCELLENT!! movie. :D I finally got it on DVD, having had it on VHS since it came out. One of my favorite Kiefer Sutherland movies, and one of the first ones to turn me onto Vampires.
