Normally a river that at the Waterhole you can get across by stepping on stones and keep your feet dry, heavy rains over the last few days have seen the level of the Apsley River in the Douglas-Apsley National Park rise considerably and there was no was i was going to get across today. While i was there it had not burst its banks but there must have been elevated levels earlier as there was warning signs on the road in where it crosses the river warning of water on the road.
This is also the highest i have seen the water level in the times i have visited, normally it looks more like the photo below:
