So, this is either written by someone extremely intelligent or it's extremely ironic.

From Dear Annie in the Carroll County Times 11/15/04

Headline: Son Must Learn Not To Take The Law Into His Own Hands

Dear Annie: I recently had a very disturbing experience with my 12-year-old son, "Ben." While in class, Ben was told that another boy had brought a knife to school and was planning on stabbing my son. Shortly after, another boy reported to Ben that there was, in fact, no knife.
Based on the confusing information and some bad history with the kid in question, Ben decided to take action. He waited until the boy was walking home from school, and then Ben beat him up. and no knife was found.
What I am struggling with is my son's attitude. Ben believes the kid deserved it because he is always threatening other kids and everyone knows he's a bully. (The kid isn't a good person.) Ben seems unrepentant about the situation, and his classmates are divided about wether or not he did the right thing. How should I handle this? -Ben Senior

Dear Senior: Ben thought a preemptive strike would prevent a future attack, but he should not have taken the law into his own hands. He allowed his fear to get the better of him. When he heard about the knife, he should have reported it to the school authorities immediately and let them investigate the charge.
Please discuss the with the school counselor so there can be some mediation between Ben and the other boy. Ben also must make some restitution for causing harm, and he needs to understand why his behavior was wrong. That's where you come in, Dad.

So..... Like I said, extremely ironic or some ones playing little games with their advice columns.
