Must note, love "9". Gotta find a cheap copy somewhere and watch it a few times. It's odd, because although I like steampunky stuff from a stylistic perspective, I have a hard time connecting to it personally. Too much grime and too little green. Leave it to a few big-eyed rag dolls to do it, though. Most of the steampunk I've seen seems to involve mastery of one's world with technology. There's an air of confidence and power to it, like where steampunky aspects get laced into "Dinotopia". However with "9", machinery is really their world, and it brings chaos, confusion, weakness. It's accessible for someone like me because it opens the characters up more. I have to say that 3, 4, and 6 are my favorites out of the bunch, especially 6. Something about those ink pen tips for fingers, hehee. I see Burton's influence on the film easily in 6, although that's not why I like him. That movie could have been a lot longer and I would have happily sat through it. Unfortunately there's no chance of a sequel or anything with a story like that, nor should there be, but it gives a lot of people a chance to imagine.
