Been a few months again since I updated, since then I've managed to graduate university and get my degree despite thinking I never would. Somehow ended up passing my Japanese exam rather well except for the letter writing part. But then that part is what really cut into my mark in the first place; not because I'm absolutely horrible at my Japanese per se, although grammatically I am rather bad. But because I essentially never write letters even in English, and on the rare blue moon that I do (I've written five letters in the last 9 years, and four of them were last month.) I take ages sometimes even a whole day to think on what I'm going to write and slowly put it down, not planning in advance. It's slow but spontaneous. I can't in less than an hour come up with a two page letter that's honest or what I really want to say in English, let alone translate it into Japanese and manage to work out the different grammar. But that's all inconsequential now.
Other than that I enrolled in a driving school, and I have my first in car lesson Tuesday if I have my schedule right. Also I spent three weeks down in the states visiting Ilia. I went camping/rock hunting with her and her folks. Overall it was a wild adventure of a trip that involved not only collecting many rocks, but odd social drama between various other members of their lapidary club that came with, peoples minor personal and familial dramas, a baby bat clinging from my crotch and a horse managing to swat itself and miss the fly with a rock-hammer.
What's really sad about it though is I really don't think Ilia sees what's going on in front of her. Hearing and memory truly are selective too, for girls can be as chauvinistic as men. Turning this into a tangent I was watching some teenage drama or someuch I saw on TV out of boredom, and I have this to say regards the issue of the week:
Insensitivity and sexual harassment are on both sides of the fence. It's not just the stereotypes they have of each other, but all the stereotypes they have of even themselves and others of the same gender. Guys aren't any more chauvanistic as a whole than girls. Nor are girls any more sensitive than guys.
Who's the chauvanistic one in this situation really?
Guy: Isn't intimacy just hugging, kissing, cuddling, maybe massaging and when the mood permits sex?
Girl: Well no it's more than that.
Guy: You know I just prefer to talk.
Girl: Well intimacy is mostly just the sense of closeness and you know I'm really physically oriented.
~Week later, same guy and girl are in bedroom and guy is giving girl a massage
Girl: See this is intimacy. It wasn't that hard was it? I won't even comment on male egotism of earlier thinking intimacy was just sex.
If you really have to ask where that situation happened then you haven't been following me for very long, or don't really know me. And I apologize for the confusion you're having to walk into.
It's really effing simple people. To guys: You remember all those old jokes about it's impossible to understand female psychology? Guess what? IT isn't true. The only problem is you barely understand the psychology of anyone but yourself, sure you've been trying for all those years, but it's right before you to understand - Every person is an individual, they're different. There is no model for female psychology, there's only understanding that one individual you're concerned with.
The same goes for you ladies. We guys aren't the base stereotypes you reduce us to of testosterone driven studly fucknuts. Nor are we impossibly difficult to understand, we don't all manage to work out our problems by beatign the cfrap out of each other. The only thing you're watching is guys trying to get rid of the pent up aggression and energy the only way they've ever been taught to. They're not resolving the issue, they're just forgetting about it, chasing it away with something they can deal with. You're no different. Some guys fight, other guys write poetry and go angst. Some girls go have nasty cat-fights and try to socially ostracize their friends, some guys do this as well. And yes some girls just plain old fight and do their best to rip the shit out of each other.
There's a few of you who don't read this anymore who could use a lesson from this. I don't need to say who, but if you don't already know you're better off never figuring it out.
