If you think I'm about to leave after 3 years, you're insane in the membrane :)

Life sucks some times, but moping around doesn't do much. Alcohol, WoW and the such are merely enablers to allow you to get away from any anxiety and pain you are feeling instead of dealing with the problems head on. Why do you think I will never be a drinker, besides the fact I hate the taste? I learn to deal with any pain I'm feeling, and now I'm learning to talk to people about it so that it doesn't eat me up completely.

If you think your only purpose in life is no longer applicable, you're full of it. Look at how many people in the world need help right now, and people like you can give it to them. Your work will never be done, and that's why you need to care about getting a Masters. Unfortunately, without the "official" tools to help people, not many will take you seriously on a professional scale.

Not everyone is going to desert you. People come and go of their own will, it's not surprising. Sometimes they only need you for temporary emotional support. But there are some people that once you've met them, you will known them for life, and those are the people who are going to make you feel fulfilled the most out of whomever you help, because you will be able to see the results for a long time.

You said yourself things change with maturity. The people you know will also change, but there will always be ways to hold on to the past, and sometimes it will come with you to help enrich your future. If you take life as a bunch of moments in time, you can work past hard moments towards moments that you know will be good.

Now suck it up, or am I going to have to come up there and smack some sense into you ;P

I vote the smack sense approach.

You've pretty much got it down pat, just the cognitive dissonance between this school thing I'm doing and the end result don't mesh.

That and the fact that while there's many people nedding help there's only so many I can reach out to - the initiating contact problem is hard :P
