We walked over to the family area of the seating section and sat down in the second row. I just kept my head down and refused to look at anyone. The family was surprised to see my sister and I there. Our parents already told everyone that we wouldn't be showing up - reason? Because we didn't fucking feel like it.
This, of course, makes us look like total jerks because everyone was there paying their condolences. The only two cousins who weren't there; weren't even in Michigan. Chris - he's a marine, so he's off fighting somewhere. Lacy - she moved to Florida awhile ago, and can't afford to come home because she lost her job at the resort. Those two little punks, A.J. and Frannie, however, didn't show up because they just didn't want to deal with the greif.
We did though, with only a minute of lateness, show up to our Aunt's funeral. We sat in the back for the entire ceremony until it ended - and that's when we joined our family. While the music was playing and the people in the friends section started leaving the funeral home. It was my first funeral, and it hit me hard because I had a perfect view of her face. Not cool.
All I could think about was how bad I looked, and not how bad I felt. I was wearing a suit and tie, but Dad said it was the wrong tie. WTF? At least I'm here. This isn't a goddamn fashion show! The family was happy to see Frannie and myself, but we left after only ten minutes of mingling with the family afterwards.
Frannie treated me to dinner, how nice. Once I got home, I recieved a priority mail letter from Mark. He had done a bunch of stuff for the Cartunes, but I wasn't in the mood to think about the stupid band. This was a bad day. After cooling off, I eventually took a good look at everything he had sent.
Very cool stuff, Mark. I doubt you read this, but hell, nice job. He made inserts and did some new artwork and he pretty much re-invented the wheel with the work he did on "All Those Opposed." He made an enhanced CD with all of our songs and if you put the disc into your computer, a special website pops up and it has "Cartune Wallpaper," a band members section and all of the lyrics very nicely written out. I've made several copies of it and will probably make more. If anyone wants it, let me know. It's VERY, VERY, VERY, VERY cool!
I asked several people to do artwork for us and no ever got around to it. So........ fuck them. Mark has done a wonderful job and deserves a round of applause.
