Alrighty folks. Here's an odd little tale I wrote for English class.
The Saga Of Ffar
The moon stared down on the last day of the land of Ffar. It was barren and dry, a dead place on it’s dying day. The moon had been there since the beginning, and was sad now that it was watching the end. It thought back to the first day.......
Ffar was created on the first day by the great god Zemadfakonnambahlajab (or Zem) in a wondrous explosion of cough drops and sugar candies. The first thing to inhabit the planet had been strange little fuzzy ball, with leathery wings and one eye. The had lived on cough drop crumbs left over from the beginning of the world. As time went on they became a great civilization, planting great groves of cough drop trees, and building huge temples to their god Zem. As their civilization had grown, they had moved throughout Ffar until there were towns in every part. Their greatest city grew in the place where they had first appeared. What came to be known as the first age passed in peace. The people of Ffar spent it exploring and cultivating the land.
The beginning of the second age was marked by the birth of the Black One. He started the first war known on Ffar. He gathered gullible followers with promises of riches and together they ventured forth to try and take over Ffar.
The moon felt a tear roll down his face as he remembered what happened next.
The carnage had been terrible, and the Black one had been on the brink of victory. Enemies of the Black One had realised the futility of continuing to fight and, in a freak accident, all began to pray in unison. Zem had been so amused by that that he sent an all powerful anvil from the heavens to crush the Black One. With the death of the Black One peace came back to Ffar. There was much rebuilding what the Black One’s armies had destroyed, and much building of new temples and monuments to Zem. The war had left a taint on the people of Ffar though, and corruption began to affect it’s inhabitants much more than before.
“The corruption grew too great for Great Zem to watch, so he fixed it.” Or at least, that’s what the records say. What actually happened was a chemical reaction in the water that turned out to be fatally poisonous to the people of Ffar.
The moon sighed. They had been such a nice people. He had mourned their death for a long time afterwards.....
The moon had not gown attached to the next creatures, and had watched their rise and fall with no emotion. However, after them came a group of people who were so likable the moon couldn’t help but be pulled into their lives. These people who would be the last to inhabit Ffar were very different from their predecessors. They were a cheerful people, but their culture was built around violence. There were seldom deaths by each other’s hand, but fights were more than common. Fortunately they were just as quick to reconcile. Their civilization lasted much longer than the previous two, but their end came eventually. It came in the form of a little girl. She found a way to tap into the power of nature. No one before her had learned to do this, and there was no one to teach her about it. She ended up taking in more power than she could handle, and was forced to let it go. The outburst was so powerful it reduced her body to ash and wiped out all living things on Ffar.
The moon looked down once more at the barren land, thinking of all the things that had happened. With a mournful sigh he let go and plunged toward Ffar, creating a crash that shook the world apart.
As the world ended a godlike voice was heard to whisper, “Just as every beginning comes with a sure death, every death has just as sure a beginning.”
