AAAAAaaaahhhhhh... ::looks around:: oh wait.. nevermind, it's just me resurrecting a dead LJ once again for another birthday post.
Wow.. where to start.. well.. I noticed that there's no longer any posts on my friends page.. so either people have stopped using LJ completely, or somewhere along the line, an update broke it and I have to do something to fix it.. Apparently I'm still using S1.. do I need to update to S2 to see friends posts? I already created a custom filter to allow for everyone, but no luck, lol.
Anyways.. not too much to post here that hasn't been said on Facebook already, except it's easier to retrieve and archive information on this site. Anything past a couple days on Facebook is a pain.. really wish they'd do something about that :(
Time to get a little heavy...
Unfortunatly, I also have some not so pleasant news this year to post. November 25th, 2010, Thanksgiving morning, I lost my brother Steven. Not exactly sure why he was where he was, but he fell about 300' from a radio tower near Tilden Park. Coroner ruled it an accident, not suicide, which is a little comforting. He had just visited my parents the night before.. talked to them about coming to Thanksgiving dinner, and even that he was going to be bringing a guest/date.
He had been making phone calls, and texting people while he was up on the tower, telling his friends how beautiful the view was, and how they should come out there also to see it. This was up until about 4:30 that morning I believe.. still a little hazy on the details.. still haven't worked myself up to reading the actual news article on the accident, though I do have it stored away for when I'm ready. Three hundred feet.. that's about, what.. 25-30 stories? I suspect it was probably the wind at that height that caused the slip.
I've been going to a few Grief Share meetings with my parent's lately at Golden Hills across the street.. seems to be helping other people with their losses, though it's more geared towards lost spouses and such, there are some videos on lost children.. so there's probably lost siblings also. I'll probably stick with it for a bit to find out.. usually kinda down after the meetings, but we'll see how it goes in the long run.
This will be my first birthday without Steven. One of many firsts that will be coming around this year, along with his birthday next month...
Also, my Uncle Ralph was in the hospital about a week ago, and is now in a convalescent home recovering from a very minor stroke. Sometimes, when people have strokes, they lose control over part of their face.. that didn't happen, which is good, although he may have been having other minor strokes recently and not known it.. dizzy spells and the like. Sounds like he's doing okay now though.
Now that I've gotten that out, let's see if we can lighten the mood again somewhat. Not really any plans for my bday except for cake with the family tonight (Carrot Cake! :D), then off to see Gnomeo and Juliet tonight (Yay! Gnomes!) Also a little something tomorrow night (not birthday related,) but other than that, no birthday plans this weekend. If anyone wants to possibly do anything, let me know.
However, I'm not sure how much time I'll have this weekend.. need to get the apartment spotless by wednesday. Apparently, the investors for Arbor Ridge are coming by to do random apt walkthroughs to make sure everyone is in compliance. It's possible they won't even enter our unit, but better safe than sorry.
Anyways, I'll leave it at that for this year. Back to Facebook and IM until next year, if anyone wants to get a hold of me :)
As a side note, omg, wtf, and bbq are only in the tags because I thought it was awesome that they included those in the 'Select Tags' option, lol!
