Apr 21, 2002 19:43

yesterday i woke up at 7 to get rdy for my trip out the NJ.Skate and Surf fest was great. Probably the best show or festivle or what-have-you I've been too.
Bands I saw:
Bayside
Chance Of A Lifetime (Levittown boys that I've played with)
Sprout
River City Rebels (Playing with them next week)
Allister (3rd time seeing them)
Showoff (7th time seeing them this year, lol)
The Reunion Show
Thursday
Catch-22
Midtown (like 8th time I've seen them)
caught a sone by Crapboard Confessional
The Get Up Kids

Interesting side notes:
Showoff finally played Bad Date live
TRS, Mark cut his hand of his Vox Jag, so he responded with ripping the black and white keys out of it
Thursday was great, although i don't remember hearing a keyboard anywhere
Catch 22; greatest catch pit ever i think. It was nice and open and very few moshers and lots more skankers.
Midtown, I've seen them so many times, but yet i've never gone to a show to see midtown. They just happen to be at a lot of shows i goto. they open for catch, NFG, edna's, a bunch of bands.
Every band who was playing the show, bashed the fuck out of dashboard while he was on. Probably because he is about 30 years old and singing about high school relationships. There's a difference between playing relationship/love songs and writting songs to cash in on high school kids. Either that or he's really pathetic.
The Get Up Kids. wow, just wow. These are some emo boys who have songs about love and relationships in general, not high school. Keyboard player had a fucking keyboard fort set up in the shape of an 'L'. There were 5 keyboards there including a mini-moog, a moog prodigy, and a hammond organ. They played just about ever song i wanted them to play. Ranging from ten minutes, action to action, red letter day, valentine, up oin the roof, red letter day, anne arbor, and many many more. Encored with Mass Pike, simply amazing. If you've never heard of the get up kids before or don't like them, you shouldn't be allowed to listen to emo music.
