I'm getting to know the location of the switch to pull the battery out of my laptop a little too well. I wonder if I should take it to the guys downtown who say they will speed up your computer, or if I should reformat my hard drive this summer, or if I should just accept that the thing is fading into senility. After rebooting it today when it would not awaken from standby mode (the fan turned on but nothing else) I started investigating Macs online X-D Eh, I've only had this computer three years, so I should probably try to get at least another year out of it. I'll just be very careful about backing things up frequently during that year. But anyway, what comes after I'm done with this computer-- I had an iMac in college (purchased in 2000, for those who don't want to do the math) that worked marvelously at first but quickly spiralled downward. I swore I would never buy a Mac again. But that was OS 9, and I hear that OS X is better, or maybe that it runs slowly but doesn't have a lot of hangups. I think what's taking up a disproportionate amount of my processor usage and probably causing a lot of errors right now is my security software, and on a Mac that's just not so much of an issue. And I'm definitely not one of those people who thinks that an operating system sucks just because they don't know how to use it. If I go to a computer lab I have no problem sitting down to use one of the Macs, particularly since more students are hogging the PCs. I don't know all the ins and outs of OS X, but starting and closing a program is still a no-brainer for me, and I wouldn't mind spending a little bit of time learning if I did get a computer with that operating system. What say you, internet people?
Kelly stays shut in her room all the time now and I feel bad. Not that I have done anything to make her stay in her room all the time, and I can't speak for Cara but I doubt she has either. It's entirely Kelly's choice if she wants to minimize how often she shows her face. But it is unfortunate that she feels unable to enjoy her own home. Based on how I was the one who had to initiate the conversation with her about the moving situation, I'm guessing that she is embarassed and that interacting with us at all is just something she does not want to deal with. Well, we say hi and get the occasional very brief small talk.
Yesterday it was very nice out so I got some color on my shoulders (trying to build it up gradually rather than get burnt) and ah, studying for my exam tomorrow, hmm...
Sometimes I go to adultswim.com and watch Full Metal Alchemist, which is a cool show but I'm only getting the story in random out-of-order episodes. And it's a bit overwhelming to just read the plot info on Wikipedia. Sometimes I go to adultswim.com and watch stupider stuff. Robot Chicken is pretty clever.
Cara had a friend over last night and we got pizza. Yay. Off to group studying in a couple hours.
I put my broken desk chair on craigslist, with a photo to show how broken it was, and got a response in just a couple hours.
