P's

Okay, so another semi-dramatic driving test story.

Firstly I refer you to the nightmare when I went for the test last time.

Saturday was the big day. I had been taking driving lessons with a driving school the month I had to wait for my next driving test opportunity. I had improved, apparently. Now one of the last things my driving instructor said to me the Friday evening before the test was "It's a good thing to make sure all your car lights are working a day in advance just so you aren't caught out". As far as I knew they were all fine, so I went to bed, and had a good sleep.

Got dad to drive me to the RTA for the test so I was fresh. Got there, all good, driving instructor at the RTA came out to the car to do the routine light check before he got in the car. He spent a long time at the back of the car, shielding the middle brake light from the sun with his clipboard. He came over to me, and said "I'm sorry, but your middle brake light isn't working. What this means is you'll have to have it fixed and come back and reschedule your test." We went inside, and to my dismay if they could not fit me in later that day (as they were all booked out being a Saturday) and I couldn't do it on a weekday because I work, the next vacant spot was May. MAY. TWO MONTHS. Dad was pissed off because he didn't want to be there in the first place, but Ross was coming to see me anyway, and took over the responsibility of my problem.

So while Ross was driving us to a servo, I was bawling my eyes out because I was so upset they REFUSED me for the MIDDLE BRAKE LIGHT not working, not the LEFT or RIGHT one, but the MIDDLE brake light. How goddamn over-zealous. So Ross fixed it for me, I was happy it was working but still very stressed out, and we made our way back to the RTA to wait an hour and a bit over coffee to see if they could fit me in before they closed. When I told them my radiator story from last time I almost burst into tears and I think the duty manager felt sorry for me, and I managed to do my test just before they closed as they squeezed me in.

And guess what? After all the mucking around, I did the test with no complications. I passed, with 99%.

So after 2 years of Loser driving, I finally, FINALLY have my red P's.
