Aye, the world will live on, but the world as we know it could be destroyed. It saddens me that humanity, along with very many of our friends in other species, could be destroyed or very badly damaged. It's not that I feel that humanity is better than everything else and thus should be saved, or that the world only exists if it is the way we know it, or in a state in which we can survive, but I love humanity as any other species and they are what I am, and what my family is. Unfortunately, if even 10% of our population is wiped out, those people will not be the people who are truly responsible for this mess. People; children, old people, middle aged people, they will all suffer and die and lose thir loved ones, and it could all have been prevented. Yes, we are highly adaptable, but I find it tragic that we should have to adapt to suffering and pain and live in a world that has been stripped, robbed and gutted. I don't see our survival or destruction as some sort of win/lose equation - having a larger surviving population than that of a few centuries is poor compensation for what we will have lost, and I spit on those who would allow this.
