Two cockatoos

There was blue as far as the eye can see. Cushions, bed spreads, tablecloth, electric "gopher". Incense sticks had left the small, cozy room smelling of vanilla. She was all but asleep when we knocked gently on the door, lulled by the busy day she'd had and the pain patch affixed to her chest. Half-lidded eyes snapped to full attention as that oh- ( Read more... )

Ever the curious mind. I would have asked the same question though.

Like I said to Nan, it's something about which I've always wondered but there's never been a... safe? polite?... opportunity at which to ask. Such is the beauty of our relationship.

I'm very glad that you have the deep relationship with your Nan to ask that most personal of questions, just as I am so sorry to hear of the progress of her illness.

I had six days with my Dad, and there were plenty of questions I didn't get to ask - finding him and seeing him was enough. But as a life-long truth seeker, I am not surprised you are using your time to good effect ... I couldn't imagine you doing otherwise.

All I can suggest is to soak up this precious time as best you can and store away as many stories as you can. It will be difficult, no doubt, but you must know that your friends and family will be there for you.

You looked out for me last year, my friend - please know that me and mine have you in our thoughts at this time. If you ever need to talk - Niners, wrestling or life - you know where I am.

Take care of yourself.

McG

You're a man amongst men, McG, and a wonderful friend. Distance means nothing when the love and support is as palpable as it is with you and your lovely family. Thank you so much for this (incredibly well-timed and much-needed) morale boost. I will indeed take you up on your offer and be in touch soon, just to talk. Again, thanks.

Always welcome. Thank you for all you're doing for Nan, despite the cost to you and toll it's taking.

Read R's comment to Nan. Bought on a few tears and the comment that she should be a minister - counsellor! You are fortunate to have such caring friends.
