The upcoming series of Transformers: Prime amuses me. It's subtitled Beast Hunters owing to its introduction of a third Cybertronian faction - a band of bloodthirsty, animalistic mechanoids who oppose the Autobots, have but a tenuous alliance with the Decepticons and whose leader is a
black-and-orange dragon with uber-level powers and a name borrowed from the greatest hunters of the G1 canon. All of which sounds
really, really familiar to me.
At its lowest, this is a coincidence. At its delusional highest, this means someone in the bowels of Hasbro found something of interest online and used it as a springboard for the cartoons and toys coming our way in 2013. Realistically, it's a sign the ideas and concepts that spring from the mind of this life-long Transformers fan are similar to those of the people entrusted with stewarding the franchise. Whichever way you slice it, I'm chuckling fondly and perhaps feeling just a tiny bit accomplished.
