"Kyle Rayner, I was never more important than you. Did you think it was an accident that I granted you the last power ring? You were our best hope then, and you still are today. Now go!"

--> Ganthet, Green Lantern Corps #58

Don't get me wrong; I'm still concerned that my boy will bear the brunt of the latest ominous Lantern prophecy. Even so, ( Read more... )

I know absolutely nothing about Green Lantern, but that four minute snippet got me pretty excited about it.

Excellent! As you know, I like to be wrong when it comes to fandom and my concerns therein, so I really hope that excitement translates into a ticket. Just because it's not looking like my cup of tea doesn't mean I want it to fail... better that it succeeds and does boffo box-office so the franchise stays strong.

From the title I expected news that Kyle would become a Blue Lantern.

So I read a transcript of the footage, but after actually seeing it- HOLY SHAMOLIE THAT LOOKS AWESOME!!!!!! I'm with LJ- this might make me like Hal myself (though Ryan looks more like Kyle than Hal to me).

So what's wrong with Sinestro's accent? I agree they are doing a better job on Hal's suit. The ring projections look fine to me. Oa looks like it might have been through a serious war or invasion. I like how the lantern looks more alien here. Kilowog has a redesign? What's wrong with Parallax and Hector?

From those scenes from the WonderCon footage- I'll rush out to see this!!!

Heeey... why didn't you like Tony Stark before the Iron Man movies?

Oh great! Now I have to explain myself! :P

Tony Stark: I could never find a hook to get me into the character. Not that I understood that concept as a kid - I just thought he looked cool but was otherwise uninteresting. The film's emphasis on "man looks to make up for his own mistakes" made Tony compelling to me for the first time, as did RDJ's performance. With the advantage of adult eyes I know everything I like comes from the source material... it just wasn't in such sharp relief.

GL: I can't imagine Sinestro having a British soccer hooligan voice, sadly, and that's how Strong sounds to me (in every role, really, save for Kick-Ass). British, yes, but not that kind of British (more David Niven, I think). Hector is, to me, a dull visual and Parallax looks more like Hector than his comic book design (which is one of my favourites). As for the Wog: why change what works? Compare the movie design with that in the comics, and it's a fair departure.

Like I said: whiny fanboy :(

Tony Stark remains a one note, uninteresting misogynist alcoholic control freak - always has been, always will be. Robert Downey Jnr. on the other hand is an awesome and very likable actor, his performance is what made the Iron Man films enjoyable, not the character he was playing ( ... )

Guess that's one less set of tickets sold, then.
