I saw J's post about candles and yay for gas stove, but hadn't actually heard what the cause was. I'd have been equally woeful, in her place. :)

You saying as much reminds me, pleasantly, of all of us sitting around in Whistler each night, moving between laptop and laptop while we uploaded photos and wrote blog entries... ah, good times.

I talk about that week away more than I probably should... people around here go a little glassy-eyed when I start waxing poetic about heated bathroom floors :D

That's weird - usually phone comes back before the power, or just stays on, here.

Also, you all would hate St. Louis. Certain parts of town, a five-hour blackout happens if there's a stiff breeze... and we're in Tornado Alley, so we get a severe-weather season that's plenty wild.

I think the telephone exchange might have taken physical damage in the form of a big honkin' tree, hence its delayed resurrection. At least, that's what all the rich, snotty people from that side of the highway were saying when they "slummed it" and clogged our restaurants, looking for hot food. *grumbles*

St Louis makes wonderful sisters, but I ain't in no hurry to live there. Ouch.

I too, kinda like power outages. A few years ago, I was stuck at my parents' house during a power outage and we sat around with head lamps on, playing scrabble. It was kind of fun, until there was no coffee the next morning...

There's always one thing, isn't there, that ruins the magic? For me it's a lack of decent reading light... I loathe being unable to just kick back with a book, magazine or comic.

Glad you are back "on-line". Interesting how we get used to the "hustle and bustle" of modern technology. Hope J sufferd no lasting effects. You will have to get a battery operated reading light for next winter!

You would be right at home in my early years if you enjoyed no lights etc, I think we had more fun in those days as well, you get to enjoy the simple life instead of all the rush and hassle, yes? Sorry J,you would probably not have liked it??? lyatbts. xxx
