Cheap at twice the price

I went stark-raving mad waiting for New Super Mario Bros.Wii to be released. Then, I went a little loonier waiting to get to a shop and buy it. Today I finally (finally!) grabbed a copy.

For $3.

Yeahhh. Three-dollar Wii games, baby! Turns out stareyednight and I had so many completed games ready for the trade-in, the store was willing to give us $67. And ( Read more... )

You're not the only one. LJ flipped when I told her over the phone this morning :)

Niiiice. That sounds like one of those "I got all my groceries for $4.98" extreme-couponing stories we get on the news now and then. Well done! :)

Thankee! Though, in the grand scheme of things, $4.98 for all our groceries would have been more useful ;)

Alas, I've been playing solo so far (I think stareyednight is a little scared of it), but I'm hoping to get a two-player game going tonight. That said, one-player is a hell of a lot of fun when you've been waiting for a Mario game as long as I have :)

Ah, the sport of it all! :D

You've left me salivating for a group game, now. Shame you live so far away and can't come over to help scare stareyednight with me. Moo hoo hah hah hah!

Re: extra lives... I've racked up 17 over World 1 alone, so I figure it's a generous sort of game :)

Have you played Smackdown/Raw 2010 yet? Or has it not been released yet?

I rented it, and it was a bitter disappointment. I was going to blog a review, actually, saying the game was "just like the real thing: dull, backwards-thinking and lacking in innovation", but then I decided it wasn't worth my time ;)

In short, it was identical to '09 but without the motion-sensitive controls. Why play the same game with more primitive controls when you can just keep going with the original?

Very interesting. Thinking about trading in 07 and 08 for an upgrade... looks like 09 will be the one I go towards!

Will you be buying for the Wii or for another system?

'Cause if it's for the Wii, then go for '09 - you'll want motion-sensitive controls because they're a lot of fun (especially with friends over). But if you're buying for PS3 or something, you may prefer 2010.

It's just that, for the Wii, '09 and '10 are identical save for the lack of motion-sensitive controls in '10. Other systems have actual upgrades, IIRC.
