I feel the need to write light-hearted Jones fic. I require a prompt/prompts. Anyone out there feelin' it? I could go to the Buckle Up, I guess, but that's waaaay too much to wade through, and I'm not much for serious kink (monogamy is my kink!).

Prompt to use or ignore, as you see fit tkeylasunset February 13 2011, 15:55:31 UTC
I love love love Bones. But you know he's not cranky 100% of the time. Are you feeling the need to write tender loving care Bones? Jim doesn't have to be hurt. Maybe just tired, cranky, overwhelmed with the responsibilities of being Captain? IDK. I guess I want some good Southern lovin'. And sweet tea. Lots of sweet tea. (Oh - not necessarily in the story. I just want some tea!)

You should write something in the communique verse *nod* yes definitely... Maybe Jim taking bones on first shuttle ride? That doesn't have to be in the communique verse but I just love the idea of Jim helpin bones get over this flying fear. So that is my prompt

The shuttle is small, new, and lightweight, shining on the outdoor lot kept near Starfleet Academy. She's so new, in fact, that she should be kept aside for show flights Nova Squadron flights and the arrival of the press. But if a man can't break into Academy computers and assign himself the best ship, why bother breaking in at all ( ... )

"You won't throw up. You haven't eaten anything in about two days knowing I was planning on taking you up. Come on." Jim shimmies aboard expertly, grinning to himself at the sound of Bones' more awkward clambering. Bones is fit (and how, Jim recalls from their last shower in the gym), but he'll pour as much drama as humanly possible into getting on board a ship.

"Hope you're not taking bets on that," Bones growls as he glares furiously at the co-pilot's seat.

"I never bet on a sure thing. Where's the excitement? Strap in, Doctor, and we'll get this show on the road." Jim runs the systems checks with easy familiarity, his stomach fluttering at the thought of going up even if they wouldn't be anywhere near space. Flight suits him just fine. He was seriously considering Helm as his non-Command track, if he ever got around to taking anything that wasn't geared for people with twice his experience.

Bones does as he's told, miraculously, and Jim leans over to sniff for bourbon. Not that Leonard McCoy behaves when he's tipsy, either, but it seems the only explanation. All he gets is a hint of coffee over classic Old Spice. Bones' eyebrow isn't amused. "Somethin' botherin you, kid?"

"Nope," Jim assures him before reaching out and deftly pressing a series on controls that dim all the surrounding windows to a dark brown. Bones looks around in surprise. "One step at a time, Bones. We'll open the windows later. Today, we just go up." He tosses a smile. Not one of his sexy, practiced ones, or even a manic top-of-the-world grin; something new, something he's finding at the Academy that he's never had before. "And while we go up, why don't you tell me about that comparative anatomy class you love so much?"

Bones' brows crash together with complete disgust, his voice emerges as a growl of contempt, and Jim directs the ship to rise smoothly into the air.

(the end!)
