Last week I read an article about a 17 month old model. The little girl loved to watch all the hustle and bustle going on during the photo shoots. I thought "Hey! Sam would like that. She's always enjoyed being out in new places." The article also said that jobs would probably be few and far between. "Awesome!" I think to myself, "That could get us out of the apartment every once in a while and it would be constructive!"

I looked up modeling agencies in the area, and found The Young Agency. I researched them, checked their BBB rating (they have an "A") I called last week and asked to set up a time for them to see Sam. They told me to be there at 11 a.m. Saturday morning, bring Samantha and a recent photo.
When we arrived, I was surprised it was actually an audition for "Arizona's cutest kids calendar." Sheryl (the woman who was supposed to see the kids) was running over an hour late. We were told it was because she was stuck at a commercial shoot for "The Parenting Magazine" and some of the kids were having meltdowns. So the secretary took pictures of all the kids and told us to call back Monday between one and two for the verdict.

I called back Monday, was told Sheryl was busy but would call me back later in the afternoon. True to the receptionist's word, Sheryl did indeed call back. She said that nine children had been picked out of the 148 that auditioned. She congratulated me and told me Sam was one of the nine that were picked. Sam will get a two year contract with the agency, a free photo session for her portfolio, and will get to list the calendar as a commercial print experience.
