The logic of the Government is truly baffling...
The State of Alaska / Department of Health and Social Services / Division of Senior and Disability Services made a colossal blundered by trying to cut costs and ended up not having enough funds to evaluate Seniors and Disabled individuals in their homes for needed services in a timely fashion, and did not make use of social workers (insisting on evaluations being done by registered Nurses only). This has apparently been going on for a couple of years.
Due to this GROSS negligence. The Federal Government has forbidden the affected people from signing up for new services until this is fixed by the State of Alaska... something that is not expected to be resolved for 5 - 6 months:
Troubled Alaska health programs face federal restriction All I can really say is....
What the hell is the Alaska State and US Federal Government thinking?
People are dieing because they are not receiving services in a timely fashion, so the solution is to deny those people any services at all until it is fixed?
Why isn't the agencies and the people in administration being targeted? Why is it the recipients of these benefits that have to suffer more for an already grossly negligent system?
Why doesn't someone think, "Hmmm, maybe we should institute some sort of temporary fix until this is resolved?"
Nope... the obvious solution here is to cut off all the needy people at the knees and bleed them out instead of making sure they are taken care of first.
Way to go... proud to be an American here... My faith in the government has found new lows.
