My interest is in magical theory and psychic potential/abilities in general, Wicca is only one aspect of what I have looked at and read about. Actually, the idea of tying magic to a religion and examining the ramifications is a relatively new angle for me. True, I have had several Wiccan friends for a long time, and through them I gained a basic idea of what it meant to be Wiccan, that combined with my reading on the Wiccan religion has given me the knowledge I have about Wicca in general.
In truth, I'd just as soon study Christianity from a magical point of view... in fact... when you think about it, it is a fascinating topic... a religious sect that makes frequent use of prayer, meditation and rituals that scorns the use of magic... and yet seems steeped in it at the same time, but denying it by calling it "miraculous" instead of "magical" to create a semantic differentiation to support their mass hypocrisy....
My girlfriend is Wiccan though... which can get comical from time to time, like one time when we were driving out in the valley (Matenuska-Susitna or Mat-Su or just 'the Valley' as we like to call it here), there was a flying insect buzzing around in the truck and landed on my (driver's side) window. My girlfriend points it out saying, "There's a bug on your window." To which I casually turn to look at it and then quickly smooshed it with my hand.
Heh... she looked at me in shocked disbelief and just said weakly, "You could have just opened your window and let it out."
So, I suppose, I have a bit of spiritual development left to go. :P Especially as it might come to the reverence of nature and all that.
But no, I am not Wiccan. I study magic, meditation, ritual, psychic development, hermeticism, wicca, quabbalah, jorei, etc... and I do so from mostly an academic view point... Which means I like to study the theory more than I like to put it into practice.
