All right. I still think all of you are a bit crazy, but it's obvious that something is happening. Where would I go to talk with a 'Dreamseer'?

Also, does anyone know of a good place that would hire a Chinese immigrant with an accent? My current job is...not going to work out in the long term. My English is good, and I've ( Read more... )

Hey, if we're crazy, join the club.

Where're you working that they don't want you there with a Chinese accent? That's pretty stupid, if you ask me.

I wasn't given much choice.

My accent isn't the problem here, but it seems to be hindering me a bit when I ask around to other places.

Hey, you could have always lived with the constant invitations.

Sounds like you're asking the wrong questions or the wrong people. What kind of job're you looking for?

At the time, I thought I'd join just long enough to tell them to stop.

Pretty much anything; I've only got a year or so of college, but I'm willing to work hard.

Yeaaah right.

With that kind of attitude, I'm surprised you're not delivering pizza. What do you want to do, huh?

...I'm not sure anymore. I thought about being a journalist, once; that's why I was in college.

You can't get in trouble for an accent if you're writing, you know. You could always try out the papers? Or just look for a random magazine, I hear they're in and out of writers all the time. I could probably hook you up with something at my uni, but I doubt you want that kind of thing.

Why not? Anything would be better than a teriyaki place where the boss hates me, and knowing someone connected always helps in getting a job. Once I get started, I can work my way up...

Hey, if you want to work for a paper that's put out by a tech college, more power to you, man. I'm just saying, some people would call that lowering their expectations.

Lemme tell you what, though. I know this girl who's looking in to trying the journalist thing herself? I'll see if she knows anybody with an opening. She's kind of... stuffy, so I have a feeling she's passing up a lot of worthwhile positions.

Oh, hey, wait a sec! Who should I say I'm asking for? I mean, in case they care.

Name's Duo Maxwell, just so I don't seem like some stalker internet guy -- not that coming from this place helps my reputation at all.
