Preparing for Park Slope

Mar 23, 2009 14:26

We left this morning at the asscrack of 7:30am to go out to Park Slope to check out a potential part-time daycare facility for Gabriel. According to the Honeydew Drop website the rates are super affordable, and they are just two blocks from our new apartment. Gabriel would go twice a week for half-days. He's gotten to the point where he needs way more stimulation than I can provide alone, and I need some time away from him during the week while Carlos is at work.

As we arrived there, I worried that Gabriel was going to be in a cranky mood because he hadn't really slept much since waking up at 5:45 this morning and having a rough overnight. But my kid LOVED that place. Like, LOOOOOOVED it. Not only did he perk up, but I think he forgot that Carlos and I were even there! He clearly didn't want to leave, which was a good sign. (I was like, "Can we just leave him here and get him back on Friday?") Carlos and I asked questions and got the tour, and we're very happy with them. Right now they are at capacity (the facility we went to, Treehouse, is infants-only and as such keep a strict 2 to 1 ratio of babies to adults at all times) but I've emailed them to get him on the waiting list for a spot. The woman who runs Treehouse said she thinks some of her kids might be "graduating" into the next level in June, and so there will be space for Gabriel then, which is fine.

So, you know, that's one thing that's taken care of.
