Aloha: Good Thing It Means Both Hello AND Goodbye

How much do I hate Ilan? I mean, seriously. The guy is a total dickwad. If I knew him in person he'd probably be someone that I always insult, but who's too self-absorbed to get that I'm insulting him. He is so freaking full of himself that it truly baffles me. He has this irrational hatred of Marcel, who, yeah, Marcel is a bit conceited and tactless, but at least he's not a DICK like Ilan. I know what reality show villians are supposed to be like (*cough*Omerosa*cough*), but Marcel isn't that. He just doesn't play well with others, is all. And I have to agree with TWoP when they say that the others totally bully him. Some of it may be the way that Bravo edits the show, but I haven't seen anything yet to justify everyone's - especially Ilan's - utter hatred of Marcel. I kind of feel sorry for him, and I am definitely going to root for him in the finals, not so much because I like him but because I HATE ILAN! As if it's not enough that he picks and picks and picks on Marcel every episode, last night he totally sold out Elia. And while I think it's shitty that she succumbed to Ilan's pressure and tattled on Marcel to the judges, I also sympathize because I know what it's like to be goaded into being the mouthpiece for someone else's shit and then having that very person not back you up. In fact, as an outspoken person of a rather passionate nature, that sort of thing happens to me quite often, it seems. So Elia has my sympathy on that point, but really? She shouldn't have said anything at all. When Ilan started in, she should have just kept her mouth shut. Left him hanging. This is one time when I really sided with Sam, because he did (it seems) try to talk them out of doing this. But you know what, Sam? Too little too late. Where was that righteous indignation LAST WEEK when you sat on your ass and WATCHED CLIFF MANHANDLE MARCEL AND SHOVE HIS FACE INTO THE CARPET?

Oy. Anyway.

Of course it now comes down to Marcel and Ilan, the two most antagonistic contestants, who utterly loathe and despise each other, not just as competition, but as people. I'm definitely on Team Marcel, here, because I want him to foam that smirk right off of Ilan's smug face.

In other news, I'm now exactly halfway to my New Year's resolution of losing 10 lbs, and 1/4 of the way to my ultimate goal of losing 20 lbs. As of this morning I have officially dropped 5 full pounds! And Carlos has lost 7!!! As I said to Carlos at PathMark last week: We're not called "Team Awesome" because we're not awesome. I am also officially in the home stretch of my Spanish lessons, with exactly 10 left including today's. I finally bought a Spanish-English dictionary, and a book of 501 Spanish verbs, and both are really helping me along.

I'm not saying that I'm better than other people just because I'm actually sticking to my New Year's resolutions and they are working for me....but it's entirely possible. ;P
