Health Auto-Bio
So I had to write this autobiography for health...and here it is.
“Pile up enough tomorrows, and you’ll find you’ve collected just a bunch of empty yesterdays”
~Meredith Wilson
I live my life by this quote. I leave nothing unsaid and live each and every day to its fullest. My name is Ben Brook, I am currently sixteen years old, and I someday plan to live my life helping others by becoming a doctor.
Family plays a huge role in my life. I am the eldest of five children, two of which are half-brother/sisters to me. My parent divorced five years ago, and when my mother remarried my life relocated from twenty minutes outside the most culturally diverse area in the world (New York City) to what I considered the middle of nowhere. Without my family, I would be nowhere. My mother is the driving force behind everything I do. She is always pushing me forward, and encouraging me to try my hardest.
My friends. What else can be said. I love them all so much. The majority of my friends happen to be seniors, and I will miss them all very much next year. The time that I spend with them becomes some of the happiest and funniest moments I have ever lived through.
Ever since I was young, I always loved to perform for people. Whether it was making up dances for family members to watch at parties or performing in a musical every summer at Stardust, a musical theatre camp. When I was little, I dreamt of myself on Broadway when I was older, those dreams have since but gone. I have recently discovered a new area of performing arts. Colorguard.
When I walk out onto the field at a competition, I love the feeling of the adrenaline hitting my blood. My pulse begins to race and my mind is focused on one thing, performing to my absolute max. The joy I get from colorguard has been like no other thing I have ever felt. When walking off the field you realize something, all the hard work you put in pays off. The memories acquired over one season keep you laughing and smiling till the next time you meet again, only to start over at square one and build a new show.
I also love to tap dance. I am so grateful to have been taught by my mentor, Kathy Strong, who just so happens to be an ex-Rockette dancer. She taught me everything I know, and named me co-dance captain last year for the musical, and co-choreographer this year when we put on The Music Man. I owe her so much, and cherish the time that I spend with her.
That’s me, in a tiny blurb. When getting to know me, you will find out relatively quickly that I am very outgoing and quite, well, nuts at times. I speak what’s on my mind and let people know how I feel. Care to learn more? All you have to do is ask.
