He laid with her on the grass, studying her under the light of the full moon. Her eyes twinkled in the light, and her mouth stretched into a wide smile. Tracing her curves, Jasper Hale memorized every inch of this wonderful pixie.
“I never thought eternity could be this peaceful,” he whispered in her ear.
Alice Cullen giggled. “Eternity too long to be alone,” she said.
Jasper rested his head on her shoulder. “But why me?”
“Why not?”
He met her eyes and smiled at how genuine, how real she was. “You may not want me.”
Alice kissed him on the top of his head. “I don’t want anyone else.” To prove her point, she moved her shoulder from underneath him. She then took his face in her hands and touched her lips to his.
Jasper opened himself and let her emotions dance inside of him. The happiness, the excitement, and the love twisted and turned around him. He wasn’t exactly sure how he got this lucky, but he wasn’t going to let this girl get away.
Closing his eyes, he let his thoughts go and got lost in this new world known as Alice.
AN: This is set after Cole gave up his demon side, but before they screwed up season four. ;)
He had to get away. The noise, the crowd - it was all too much.
Cole breathed in the fresh air as he peered off the side of the roof. Quiet, blessed quiet. Of course, he was a little pissed he couldn’t simply shimmer away himself. He hated asking Leo to take him to the roof of his old apartment building, but Leo seemed to understand, even sympathize.
He closed his eyes, soaking in the cold night surrounding him. He pulled his coat tighter around his body. He hadn’t thought about how chilly it would be.
As he took another breath, he heard someone orb in behind him. He didn’t bother turning around.
“I’m not ready to go back yet, Leo,” he said.
“Why are you up here all alone?” Cole whirled around to see the owner of the familiar voice. Phoebe stood there, holding Leo’s hand. She smiled at her brother-in-law. “Thank you. I’ve got it from here.”
“No problem. Call when you’re ready to go back.” With that, Leo orbed away.
Phoebe joined Cole by the edge of the roof and peered out at the lights of San Francisco. “So,” she began, breaking the silence. “Want to tell me why you disappeared?”
“How do you stand it? The noise and the togetherness. I’m not used to it all.”
“I grew up around it, Cole. It’s normal for me.” She hooked her arm through his and lay her head on his shoulder. “I forgot you’ve never had a family Christmas before.” She chuckled. “And here I thought you had gotten tired of me.”
“What?”
Phoebe lifted her head and met Cole’s eyes. He touched her chin, his heart full of happiness.
“Phoebe, I’ll never get tired of you. You’re everything I’ve ever wanted. My disappearing from the family Christmas dinner had nothing to do with you.”
“Good.” Phoebe stepped closer to him, wrapping her arms around Cole’s waist. He engulfed her tiny form in his embrace.
“Are you ready to go back?” she asked after a few minutes.
“Can’t we stay here a little longer? I like having you all to myself.”
“Sure.”
And they stayed in their embrace for the rest of the night, leaving the rest of the world far behind.
She sits by the window, watching his chest rise and fall. The rising sun falls across his naked chest, and she remembers how it felt against her hands the night before. Sarah sighs.
She’s never done this before. Sure, she has kissed strange guys in clubs, but she’s never taken one to bed.
Kyle was different, though. He has done everything to protect her from the robot trying to kill her. And in the midst of it all, he said he had loved her all his life, simply because of a picture.
Maybe it was the stress and the fear, but she didn’t want to resist him. She wanted a moment of normalcy, a moment where she felt safe.
Kyle gave her that and much, much more.
She doesn’t know what the new day will bring, but she hopes she and Kyle will both live to see it.
She thought she knew every kind of strange thing out there. She knew how to kill a vampire, how to destroy a ghost. She even knew how to send a demon back to hell. But this was a little out of her league.
Jo pressed herself against on of the outside walls of the bar she worked at. The lightening was bright and even flew in her direction once or twice. She couldn’t seem to look away, though. The whole thing was fascinating.
She hadn’t meant to see Adam, one of their regulars, fighting some strange guy with a sword. Hell, she only came out to see if she could help. Adam hadn’t needed any. He produced his own sword and fought the guy with ease. Then he cut off the other guy’s head. Jo’s jaw had dropped.
Now she was rooted to the spot, watching lightening and wind swirl around Adam. She couldn’t believe what she was seeing. What was he?
When the light show ended, Adam dropped to the ground. Jo bit her bottom lip, torn between running to him and running back inside. She never was one to listen to her common sense. Instead of going back inside, she reached Adam in a few brisk strides. She didn’t know what to expect, but it was a chance she felt she had to take.
“Sammy, this is a stupid idea.” Dean glared at his brother, desperately wishing looks could kill.
Sam swallowed the giggle bubbling up in his throat. “Do you have a better idea?”
Dean paused. “No, but I’m not going out there looking like this.”
“Dean, we have to see why these kids disappear when they visit Santa. This is the best way to get close to him.”
“I’m dressed like a freakin’ elf. Why don’t you be the elf?”
Sam peered down at his brother. “I think that’s kind of obvious, Dean.”
Dean smacked him on the back of the head. “I hate you. I really hate you.” Shoving a green pointed hat with a bell on the end onto his head, Dean marched out to the car.
“The kids’ll love you!” Sam called as he followed.
“Shut up, Sam!”
He didn’t expect to see her - her brown hair, her smooth skin, everything he remembered. He knew she would be there, but he never thought they would share the same space.
He swallowed as he watched her come towards him with a long, sharp instrument. He narrowed his eyes to get a better look at her, but couldn’t tell if her eyes were black or not. He hoped they were still human.
When she reached him, she didn’t meet his eyes. He chuckled weakly as he struggled against his chains. He winced at the pain in his shoulders.
“Bela, fancy meeting you here,” he said.
“Quiet, Dean” she responded as she looked around. After two passes of the area, she met his eyes. Hers were still green. “Hold still.”
Gripping her instrument, she swung at Dean’s shoulder. He braced for the pain, but heard a clank as one of the chains broke. He opened his eyes to see Bela swinging for the other one. When it broke, he dropped to his knees. At that moment, a loud alarm echoed throughout the pit.
Dean and Bela worked together to free Dean from the hooks. Bela then helped him stand and shouldered his weight as best she could.
“Bela? Why?”
“No time to explain,” she said. “We’re getting out of here.”
With that, they moved as fast as they could away from Dean’s Hell.
ETA: Obviously, this one must have been in a different file.
Barney, what in the hell are you doing?
Barney turned around a half dozen times before he reached the floor she lived on. Thank God Ted was out of town for the holiday; Barney couldn’t think of an excuse big enough to explain what he was doing in Ted’s building with a small gift for Robin.
“All right, Stinson. Man up,” he said aloud to the empty hallway.
With determination, he marched to the apartment. He stopped when he reached the door, and all of his confidence deflated.
He hadn’t told her how he felt about her. He wasn’t even sure he wanted to. For all the ranting and raving Barney said against love and marriage, he couldn’t get Robin out of his head. It was embarrassing.
What if I left the present here, knocked on the door, and ran? he thought. A smile spread across his face. What an appealing idea! Robin would never know he was there. I’m a genius.
He set the present on the floor, knocked, and took off running like a bat out of hell. Again, he thanked whoever was listening that Ted wasn’t home and that no one was in the hallway.
He was halfway down the hall when he realized he had put his name on the gift.
“No! No, no, no!” He whirled around and headed back down the hall. Maybe she hasn’t opened the door yet. Turning the corner, he saw the package still sitting on the floor.
He reached it in two strides. Blowing out a breath, he picked it up. As he did, the door opened, and he was face to face with Robin.
“Barney? What are you doing here?” she asked.
His mind went blank. At that moment, Barney Stinson, who could talk his way out of anything, had nothing. So he shoved the gift into her hands.
“M..merry Christmas,” he said, pushing his hands into his pockets.
Robin gave him a huge grin. “For me?” She peered down at the card. “From you?” She met his eyes again.
Barney simply shrugged. “Well, you know.”
“Barney, do you have any plans today?” Robin asked, a note of seriousness in her voice.
He remembered the blond waiting on him down at the bar. “No,” he said. the blond could wait.
Robin stepped back. “Come in.”
Barney straightened his tie and followed her in. Maybe this would be a Merry Christmas after all.
