Really Awesome YA Books

Oct 06, 2011 10:59

I've fallen behind in sharing my quick book comments with you guys. Sorry about that. So today, I'm going to share three YA books I've read recently that I absolutely loved. Two are paranormal mysteries and one is a fantastic satire. Go read them now!

Texas Gothic by Rosemary Clement-Moore

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

How much do I love this book? Let me count the ways. I love Amy's voice and her personality. She certainly isn't perfect and she has to learn things the hard way. The supporting cast was a lot of fun as well. Also, the magic is very subtle, letting the mystery shine through. Definitely recommended for someone who loves Bones, Ghost Hunters, and Charmed. Go read it now!

Beauty Queens by Libba Bray

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the best book I've read in a long time. It was witty, funny, touching, and incredible. The characters were awesome, and I cheered for each and every one of them (except the bad guys). On the surface it seems like a cheesy story, but dig a little deeper, and you'll find an amazing story. I recommend it to everyone I've ever known.

Clarity by Kim Harrington

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really, really enjoyed this story. It had a great mystery, a great main character, and was a very quick read. I kept guessing at who the bad guy was, but I was wrong every time. And, personally, the twist surprised me. Definitely recommended for mystery lovers (even though it has a small paranormal bent). Now I want to read the sequel.
