Hey there. It's been a fair amount of time since I posted last, I guess.. sorry about that. There's been a fair amount going on, and I just hadn't really felt up to it, I suppose.
Hm.. where to start..
Well, I guess I ought to get the bad news out of the way first.. I've started working at Stream again. I'm sorry, everyone.. I guess that sort of makes me a hypocrite, but I needed a reliable full-time job in order to save up some money, and it's amazing how difficult it can be to find one of those in Chilliwack. There are jobs, yes, but the employers in this area seem to have a serious aversion to hiring full-time employees. Sigh... well, I'm doing tech support for multi-function printers at the moment. Literally at the moment, that is, I'm actually writing this up while taking a call at work. Shh, don't tell anyone. (Poor guy, I'm going through the troubleshooting steps with him, but I already know he's gonna have to pay for service or a replacement..)
Oy.. I'm tired..
Well, we (the Press-Ganged Theatre Companie) performed 'Hamlet' this weekend, in Harrison. It went extremely well! It was sort of interesting, before the show I asked Bess if she could do anything with my hair to keep it out of my face during the show, so she took about ten minutes, maybe a double-handful of bobby-pins, and rolled it back into a ponytail, sort of shepard Book looking deal. There will be pictures of it floating around eventually, I'm sure. Anyways, I played 'Rosencrantz', opposite Elora's 'Guildenstern'. The two of us got a lot of laughs and even a decent amount of applause, which was extremely flattering. The audience was full of praise during the intermission and after the show.
Andrea did an amazing job as Marcellus, a Gentleman, and the Priest, as well as filling in as props mistress for the production. She did a great job, and everyone pitched in to get her, Ayame, Gwen, and Astrid each a bouquet of flowers. I must admit, however, that it would be nice if she got a female role next year.. >.>;
Also..
During the intermission, before we got to the main dinner course, their Highness's, Prince and Princess Tir Righ held a small court. I felt like a deer in headlights when they called Sleet Avery before them (Ernst was heralding), and proceeded forward with much bowing and scraping (wouldn't you know I can even get a few laughs while getting called into court). I knelt before them, and when Ernst read out that I was to be awarded Arms, I heard someone off to my right (Johanna, it sounded like?) whisper an excited "Yes!" After Ernst's bit, there was a lot of cheering (which was probably the best part of the whole thing) and as her Highness was putting the necklace over my head, she says, "It sounds like you deserve it." I couldn't help grinning. =P Of course there was the three cheers bit, and then one of their Highness' guards chased me out of court with a spear.
After the rest of court I got swamped by people congratulating me (the whole 'Lord' bit is going to take a lot of getting used to). The AoA necklace is nice and long and heavy, so I won't forget about it. It's even got these little round beads spaced about it that are strangely reminiscent of millstones..
The scroll they gave me is very nice, and Andrea noticed that in the top left corner there's an image of what looks like a bird in armor.. Bird - Avery? I know the scrolls aren't custom-made or anything, but it was either a nice coincidence, or maybe someone picked it out due to that.
Heh, Mrs. Braumberger came up to congratulate me at one point, I let her know I was just following family tradition. After all, both of Alex Kevin's sisters had received their AoA's at Bard & a Banquet, right?
Anyways, we made it through the play successfully, and it really felt like one of our best performances. The audience seemed to agree, as well.
Even with that, though, I can't wait to get started on the '13th Einar'. It will be a relief, I think, to be able to do a straight comedy again. Hamlet was fun, but it's tough to do something so serious. I got off easy with a mostly comic-relief role, I think.
I can't wait to see pictures, and Luther taped the whole thing, so we'll have to see whether that turned out alright.
Well, anyways, it's back to the work week, and I can't think of anything else to write about at the moment, so that's it for now, I think!
Thanks for sitting through post twenty-four (24? As in Nov. 24th, when we had the play?) with me.
Talk to you later!
