What is it about me that makes people think they can betray me and do something behind my back and assume I won't find out?

Okay, so I'm not often prone to complaining about really big things--I love to bitch and whine about small stuff, but I rarely speak up about the things that get under my skin and drive me crazy.

But really, where is it written in my fate that people think that because I trust my friends and coworkers and I will do a lot for them, I won't get mad when they pull crap off behind my back?

For those of you just joining in on the rant of my life, there's been an issue for a while in my store. We had lost our assistant manager, and our store manager was looking between myself and the other shiftlead for the position. You can probably see where this is going.

Honestly, it's not that he got the promotion that pisses me off--although I've had to clean up untold amount of messes after him that he should have damn well taken care of when it occured, nor is it that even though pretty much ALL the staff has come to our store manager with complaints about him and nothing was ever done about it, nor really is it even that he has some of the worst customer service I have ever seen, nor even--heaven's forbid--is it that I have seniority.

No, what REALLY pisses me off is that my store manager knew if I didn't get the promotion I would leave the store (because let's face it, working at a movie store is NOT going to pay my bills) and she DELIBERATELY did not tell me that she had essentially and pretty much entirely given him the position a month or two AT LEAST ago. She didn't BOTHER to inform me, and in fact, basically told him not to tell me. I had to find out through second hand sources that she had given the position to him.

Jeeze... when are people going to realize that if they do shit that pisses me off, it is simply better to just damn well tell me IMMEDIATELY rather than wait and try to hide it. Because if I find out afterwards, heads are REALLY going to roll.

I was so angry and betrayed that I told my store manager--quite calmly, mind you, I had thankfully had a few hours to cool off--that this was my two week notice, and that I would stay long enough for her to get back from a vacation, and then I was gone. So as of Feb. 10th, I will offically be out of that store.

And she looked at me like completely shocked when I told her I was leaving! And she had called one of my coworkers last night JUST to find out if the rumors about me leaving if he got the promotion were true. She knew I was going to do it--I swear to God, she avoided me the whole two hour crossover we had and didn't want to talk to me as much as she could--and yet she still looks at me with this 'how can you do this to me?!' look. God...

Christ, I had planned to find a new job first and then quit, but there was no way I was going to stay in a place where the store manager is so childish that she can't face her own people to tell them something she knows is going to piss them off.

Grow a fucking spine, for God's sake.
