It's been a busy couple of months. It promises to stay that way for a little while. But enough about that and onto my personal problems.
I bought Skyrim Friday, like many do. I love it. I wrote something on G+ about it, so I won't repeat it needlessly here. My WOE is that a (possibly very insignificant) virus hit my computer Tuesday morning. It was enough to cause me to run a bootscan. I was kind of dumb, figuring it can't have affected much, and told avast to delete all and ran off to work. So the thing is, I have no idea what all avast deleted.
When I came home, I was able to get into my desktop just fine. No obvious problems. Cool, says I, avast did its job and now I can play. HRM where is my Steam shortcut? Oh hey, there's updates, I should install those now.
Fast forward 5 minutes later, and my PC refuses to finish loading Windows in normal mode, every time. Can't roll back the update, can't find any of my restore points, which I KNOW I made, because I'm paranoid like that, run whatever I can to try to fix it in safe mode, but I'm just getting nowhere.
Finally, I go back to a backup system image I had from June on an external drive. *sigh*
Not so bad. But people, the lesson here? Make good backups and restore points OFTEN. You know, so you can get back to Skyrim faster.
