You don't see that every day...
Maddy was sitting in her English class today and a Kookaburra flew in!
For those of you not familiar with these birds, an adult (which this one was according to the size Maddy said it was) stands about 42cm (17 inches) high. They're strictly meat eaters, and their beaks are long, sharp and dangerous.
A teacher from across the hall was following the frightened bird, yelling at it as if it were a student (something Maddy's class found hysterical until the bird really started to panic). Maddy's come home with a little scratch on her forehead from one of its claws when it flew between her and her friend (who lost a chunk of hair to the other claw). Other students were scratched up a bit too, but there were no serious injuries, thank goodness.
