I slept 15 hours last night, my body and mind attempting to catch up from the fun of the weekend. Unfortunately the weekend wasn’t any party, no alcohol for me, no staying up way early in the morning either. This was a band trip. Yeah, we all stayed in hotel rooms, Miranda, Farron, Twiggy, and I got landed in room 420… ironic thing that is… we made a little sign for the inside of our door that had a marijuana leaf drawn on it.
Day 1, AKA: Thursday:
We all piled on charter buses and left the school right before 6th period, so I got to skip two classes, though not the ones I would have wanted to skip. A 2-hour bus ride ensued. Kemah Boardwalk was next. The Aquarium restaurant was a rip-off… the building was not all one big aquarium, there were a few big tanks… and poor stubby the 3-legged turtle; “Keep flapping that stump buddy, you’ll make it.” Rode one ride, $3 freaking bucks for one ride, and it wasn’t worth three I’m telling ya. Marble Slab ice cream isn’t that great either, I’ve tasted a lot better than that, and it was cheaper too. Ah yes, the band, and the mosh pit… to conclude the night’s festivities, we white girls attempted to dance… Let’s just say I’m OC, Overly Caucasian, do not put me on a dance floor.
Day 2, AKA: Friday:
“Ahh… the thing that rings!!!” Wake up call at 6:30 on the morning, crawl out of bed and barely manage to get ready and eat breakfast without falling headfirst into the food. Contest day. The entire band heads down to play our 3 musical pieces at the contest in hopes of making a decent recording to get Honor Band this year. Well, it wasn’t perfect, but it was better than the UIL recording and contest. After that was Moody Gardens; now, if you’ve been in the Giddings School District since kindergarten you’ve been to Moody Gardens at least once, me, I’ve been 3 times, the band trip was my 4th. Trust me, it hasn’t changed that much, at all, none, whatsoever. We went in the Tropical Rainforest Pyramid, covering our heads to block the bird crap. Then to the Aquarium Pyramid, wow fish, they’re all so… boring… bright colored ones… Dory from Nemo… And then I had to pull on a nice dress for the Colonel Paddle-Wheeler Dinner and a Cruise. I hate dresses, at least the nice ones, and no one told me I could wear dress pants and a nice top… ugh… And then I was sick for the whole boat ride, pain, nausea, make it stop! It helped to eat, but then it got progressively worse. All I wanted to do was lay down in a bed, but no… I would’ve had to swim to shore then walk to the charter bus, then figure out how to get to the hotel and drive there… I considered it… I felt better when I got to lay down and called Matt, but ended up in a wrestling match of sorts with Twiggy, who was getting back at me for belching numerous times while she was talking on the phone with Michael. Then listened to Miranda’s ‘Cat in Heat’ noises…lol. (Kinda one of those things where you have to be there I suppose)
Day 3, AKA: Saturday:
Last day of the trip. Can’t say that I was entirely disappointed, though it did have it’s fun points, I spent a fourth of it being sick. On to Six Flags. I think we managed to hit all the good rides before 2:00 in the afternoon and we got there right before the park opened. The Batman, my first standup roller coaster gave me the beginnings of a headache, my head banged back and forth between the headrest thingy countless times… So my headache continually got worse throughout the day and eventually made me nauseated. Barely managed making it through the awards ceremony, we got best in class and something else, I don’t remember. I spent the last hour laying down in the park’s infirmary, woohoo, such funness…
All in all the trip was probably worth it, it gave me a break in my regular routine. I bought a new black shirt and dragon necklace and this cute stuffed animal cat (he’s ‘gothic’ stitches in certain places, black fur, a patch, curvy tail, bent over ear, a crazy eye, crinkled whiskers, offset mouth and a nose ring… awesome…). And as soon as I got home I dropped like a rock into bed and passed out.
