CHAPTER ONE PART DUEX

Gabriel quickly got dressed in a simple shirt, hose and a heavy wool cloak. Winter was quickly coming and it was starting to get cold outside. pulling on his soft boots, Gabriel quickly hustled out of his room. It was still early enough in the morning that the hallway outside his room was still lighted by torches that lined the wall. Enchanted by magic, the torches were always lit with a heatless, permanent fire. The flickering light cat long shadows down the halls. As quietly as he could, Gabriel moved down the hallway towards the main hall. Gabriel came to a large marble stair that led down to the large, ornate double doors that served as the only exit from the estate. He winced as his boots clumped down the shiny staircase.
As he threw up the hood of his cloak to venture out he felt a strong hand gasp hi wrist and turn him around. He turned to face his father, Gabriel tried to shake his father lose but to no avail. Despite his age, Gabriel's father still had a respectable amount of strength from his days being a knight in the service of the clergy of Pelor, the god of the sun.
"And where do we think we're going?" His father said. Gabriel noticed, quite to his surprise, that his father was wearing his ceremonial suit of armor, a series of overlapping metal strips emblazoned with the symbol of Pelor and belted at his waisted was his heavy mace.
"father...I...I was just going out." Gabirel stuttered
"Oh really? well in that case, why don't you come with me, I something to show you, and it well overdue."
"Oh...alright."
His father opened the large doors and beckoned Gabriel to follow him. They walked down the street at such an alarming pace that Gabriel had to practically jog to keep up with his father's long strides.
"Where are we going?" Gabriel asked his father.
"You'll see." Was the only response he received. Five minutes later, they left the Nobles' District and entered the Temple District. Gabriel had been in the Temple District before, but he couldn't help gaze up at all the wondrous temples. The large silver temple of Tyr, the god of justice was situated across the street from the tall graceful gold-inlaid temple of Pelor. Flanking Pelor's temple was the light blue tower of Mystra, goddess of magic and the dark temple of Selune, goddess of the moon. From where he was standing, Gabriel could see a dark alley in the corner of the district. He knew where that alley led, and he shuddered when he thought about it. For not all deity's are good and benevolent, there are some malignent spirits that gather followers and demand crazen rituals.
"Gabriel!" His father screamed, "Stop that, and get over here!" Gabriel realized that he was staring at that dark, forbiding alleyway. he wrenched his eyes away and saw his father at the foot of the stairs that led up to the temple of the sun. "let's go Gabriel, there someone I want you to meet"
